Journal kept by a young French woman, traveling with her husband Frédéric, during a trip to Italy from March to July 1844. The couple departed from Marseille for Genoa, Livorno, and Pisa. They arrived in Rome on March 11th and left for Naples on April 26th. From there they traveled to Sicily (Palermo, Syracuse, Taormina, and Messina). They ended their trip in Florence, returning to Marseille on July 17th, 1844. The writer describes buildings, museums, artwork, and special events that happened during their trip. For example, while in Rome the couple attended a general audience with Pope Gregory XVI.
